At Anew Retreats, our aim is to offer delicious, wholesome food and to make sure everyone feels well fed, welcomed and cared for during their retreat.
We appreciate that guests may have a range of dietary needs, including food preferences, intolerances, allergies and medically required diets. Please let us know about any allergies or dietary requirements at the time of booking. We will discuss your needs with you and let you know what we can safely and practically provide.
We offer a choice of options at breakfast and lunch, allowing us to accommodate a range of tastes and dietary needs. As a small retreat house, our evening meal is prepared as one shared meal for the group, enjoyed together around the table. Where reasonably possible, we are happy to adapt the meal to accommodate dietary requirements or preferences, but we are not always able to provide a completely separate alternative meal.
We are able to cater for gluten-free requirements, but please note that Anew Retreats is not a gluten-free or allergen-free kitchen. While we take appropriate care when preparing food for guests with allergies or intolerances, we cannot guarantee an environment completely free from allergens or the risk of cross-contamination.
We will always do our best to accommodate medically necessary dietary requirements and allergies, but as a small retreat venue we are unable to cater for every individual food preference or dietary choice.
Our priority is to find a practical solution wherever we can, while keeping mealtimes enjoyable, relaxed and shared for everyone.
During your stay, you’re welcome to purchase additional food and beverages from us. Payment can be made by cash or card, or you can simply charge items to your room and settle the balance before you leave.
We are a licensed premises and offer a small selection of alcoholic drinks, along with canned and bottled soft drinks, which are available to purchase during your stay.
In line with UK licensing requirements, we kindly ask that you do not bring your own alcohol onto the premises for consumption during your stay.
Thank you for helping us to maintain a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for everyone.
For the comfort, safety and wellbeing of all our guests, smoking and the use of recreational drugs are not permitted anywhere on the premises, including in bedrooms, communal areas and outdoor spaces.
If this policy is not followed, we reserve the right to charge a £50 additional cleaning fee to the card used for your booking to cover the extra cleaning required.
Thank you for respecting our premises
Access & Accessibility
Harmony House is a beautiful, historic property dating back several centuries. While it has been thoughtfully modernised, it retains many of its original features, including steps, narrow stairways, low beams and sloping ceilings.
We want you to have a clear picture of the access around the property before you book, so please take a moment to read the information below. If you have any questions or particular access needs, please get in touch. We’re very happy to talk these through with you.
Harmony House, Guest Bedrooms & Garden Room
On arrival, there is a short walk along the pavement to the front gate.
The main guest house and Garden Room are accessed via three steps along the path to the front door. There is then one step down from the entrance porch into the hallway, followed by nine stairs to the first level and a further three to six stairs to some of the bedrooms.
There is a small step into the Poppy Room and two larger steps into the Cornflower Room.
The Poppy Room has sloping ceilings and exposed beams, which guests over 6'2" (188cm) may need to take particular care around.
The Garden Room has a small step at the entrance.
Willow Cottage
Willow Cottage is accessed via the public footpath lane to the right-hand side of Harmony House. The private entrance is at the rear of the property, through glass French doors.
The staircase to the bedroom is narrow and includes a 90-degree turn halfway up. The bedroom also has a sloping roof, with a height of approximately 5'10" (178cm) at its lowest point. Guests over this height should be aware that headroom is limited in part of the bedroom.
Children & Pets
As our retreats are designed specifically for adults, we are unable to accommodate children or pets on any of our retreats.
The only exception is a fully trained assistance/service animal where required.
If you’re unsure whether the access at Harmony House will be suitable for you, please contact us before booking. We’re always happy to answer questions and help you decide whether the property is right for your needs.
